Hotel, Gites
and Traditional Meals - Ardèche, (South France)
Welcome to Le Sentier des Arches - the
perfect holiday destination.... Our 14 double or family guest rooms are
all en-suite and idyllically set amongst several acres of sweet chestnut trees
overlooking the crystal waters of the river Beaume.
In the middle of the Ardèche
Regional Park and just 25 kilometres from Vallon Pont d'Arc, the area offers a variety of different scenery, ranging
from natural caves and gorges to rivers and forests. The site itself
overlooks the oldest vineyards in the Ardèche - dating back to the 9th
century!
There are many activities to be enjoyed in
the Ardèche - take a look at our 'activities' page. You don't even
have to go far: relax in our
extensive gardens, swim in the river's natural swimming pool, or
sunbathe on the beach... An ideal
place to holiday in a blissfully unspoilt region of France. The Ardèche
has long been a popular holiday destination and boasts an impressive 300
days sunshine a year!!
Our family restaurant will
be serving fresh local produce and specialising in cuisine of the
Ardèche - enjoy your continental breakfast and a different 3 course meal
every evening on
our terrace! Our hotel is set in the
very heart of a magnificent countryside. In order to preserve it for
future generations, we try to respect the nature which surrounds it as much as possible. In our
kitchen we use locally grown produce of an excellent quality and we
avoid the use of unnecessary packaging. Water is also a precious
resource in the Ardèche and the water for Le Sentier des Arches comes
straight from a source - the taste is delicious and we avoid wasting it!
Out of respect for the environment, we have also decided not to build a
swimming pool, but instead to create a beach area next to the river. The
river is category 1 (the cleanest category which exists) and we have
created our very own
'natural' swimming pool!
Recipe for
January
Apple Crumble
Good and easy too!!
Peal the apples and chop them up - soak
them over night in rum (type Bacardi), orange juice and sugar (enough to
cover the apples) Simmer over a low heat until the apples are soft.
For the crumble..
300g flour, 200g butter and 175g sugar -
make 'crumbs' between your forefingers then put this on top of the apple
mixture - sprinkle with sugar and cook in a hot oven for 30 - 40
minutes..
An English classic, which the French love
too!!
